Rest and recovery
Is r&r important?
Too many variables but a few things may indicate it IS important.
You could checkout your DNA and see what the results say (peanut allergy ✅). You may even be among the 40% of the population that has an MTHFR gene mutation, which basically means that your body doesn’t send alI the instructions to make the important enzyme you need. And then you feel "not good," depending on what you eat. Or don't eat. Still working on this one.
You could use a wearable health tracker like the WHOOP wristband or a finger ring like Oura (or Superhuman, which I tried recently) and discover how food, exercise, and deep sleep affect waking time, energy, and productivity.
Or you could just go traveling (scientifically proven to increase happiness, haha), go to the mountains, or take long walks on the sandy South Carolinian shores of the Atlantic Ocean in 80-degree sunny weather while holding hands with your spouse.
If rest and recovery are important for sports athletes performing at intense levels (muscles grow stronger during rest and recovery, not during exercise), then they're important for business owners as well.
What works for you?

Marketing Minute
If you got in front of a multi-millionair business owner and needed to present your case for why he should choose you to do their roof...
WHAT have you done so that he should trust you?
EVERYTHING that happens after the first impression is either adding "trust" or taking away the trust your prospect gave you.
When someone calls you from a mailer, HOW you answer the telephone (and "if" you answer) matters.
Same with your website ("if" you have one).
You're either building up the confidence they have in hiring you or they're losing confidence (if you don't have a website, contact me right away so we can fix that 😊).
If you have a website, make sure your "About" page has real info and real photos of you, your team, your equipment, etc., as that is an advantage you can have over most of your competitors.
Your website should load FASSTT (less than 3 seconds, according to Google) and should look PROfessional.
Your website should also be helpful.
This builds trust and helps close the dealio.
How many of these "trust signals" should you stack in your favor?
This Week’s Sponsor
Contact CommercialRoofingWebsites.com for your commercial roofing websites. With hosting starting at JUST 33/MONTH and just a onetime costt for the website design, you'll finally have a blazinfast, search-engine-friendly, and PROFESSIONAL website that builds trust, collects leads, and helps you close more projects. In full disclosure, Owen Shrock came out of "semi-retirement" to re-start this venture because he got fed up with shoddy-looking websites and "gurus" rippinoff contractors 950 every month for websites that were causing roofers to "not close" jobs!
Seal the Deal
In selling, similar to my rant above about "marketing," you need to build up enough "trust signals" to the point that the prospect would rather work with you than anyone else.
We can do that, to a large degree, in our marketing efforts by what we say, how we say it, etc. but how does this apply on the selling process?
For decades it's been said that people need to know, like, and trust you.
Some would debate whether they actually need to "like" you but I believe it will go a long way to helping support all the other trust signals.
Do you depend on your "marketing" to do all the trust-building work or are there things you do during the presentation to build even more trust?
